I decided to purchase this radiator guard because my radiator was getting damaged by stones. I found cheaper guards that were made from aluminum but I chose stainless steel for its durability. The reason I chose ETCHING FACTORY is because they have experience at the SUZUKA 8 hours.
[Mounting] *(1)Remove side cowl and under cowl. (2)Remove the bottom screws holding the radiator. (3)Hook on the upper 3 tabs so that they match the curved radiator and fix them together with the screws on the bottom. Be careful not to bend the guard. *It is designed by model and will fit perfectly. Although it will rise slightly because it's only fixed with the screws on the bottom. *Instructions aren't in detail because it's easy to mount. Only 1/3 of a letter sized paper.
[Performance] *I tried it out after mounting but it doesn't rattle due to the vibration of the engine. But this might be because I can't hear it. *The temperature of the water seems to be 3 to 4 degrees higher than usual. Usually when I take a ride, it settles down at around 80 degrees but it reached 85 degrees after mounting. The temperature doesn't seem to drop either. It might be because it covers the fin despite the size of the guard. *The center slightly rises so it'll make a mess if insects intrude. You won't be able to get them out easily or clean it up easily either. *By mounting the guard, scratches and stains become less prominent. The guard itself is made from stainless still and is scratch resistant.
[Others] *With the know-how they achieved from their experience at The SUZUKA 8 hours, the center of the guard is produced with grids 2.3mm small to avoid stones and pebbles and 6.3mm at the sides to increase cooling performance. *The weight of the guard is approx. 250g and is 0.8mm thick. The hard stainless steel material is ideal for guards. *The color of the logo on the bottom part of the guard can be chose from five colors.
[General Comments] *It is important to guard the fin of a water-cooled vehicle, however guards are expensive and can't be purchased without a sense of hesitation. So it might be best to mount it when you purchase the motorcycle after all.
